Svala i Stuff Magazine |
Detta är så bisart, jag kommer nog inte komma över detta inom dem närmaste dagarna. Tänk dig dagens Kali gemföras med Britney Spears.

Ice QueenThe songwriting siren that is Svala is the best thing to come out of the country of Iceland since…eh, all right, she’s the the best thing to come out of Iceland, period. Stuff, 2/20/2003 By Shannan Rouss
When you think of Iceland, you probably think of their opposition to EU membership, their fishing industry and all that political nonsense with Norway. Oh, who are we kidding—you don’t think of Iceland at all, do you? Singer-songwriter Svala is here to change all that. Already a sensation in her homeland, Svala is quite unlike fellow native Björk, in the sense that she’s much less creepy and much, much hotter. And judging by her new album, The Real Me, she’s a genuine songbird, to boot! And we say that quite literally since her name, in fact, means swallow. Come and fly with us on the 24-year-old winged mammal that is Svala!
STUFF: The population of Iceland is, like, four people, tops. I’m assuming being famous there can become a problem.
SVALA: I have a Hotmail account, and fans send me personal e-mails. Guys that are horny and that kind of stuff, but I just play off of it. I don’t respond to anything that’s disgusting. But if they’re guys that have a little crush, I say thanks.
In your estimation, how do the warm fuzzies that are American males measure up to the cold pricklies you have in Iceland?
In Iceland they tend to be…well, let’s just say in America the guys are gentlemen. They open the door for you and stuff. It’s different. In Iceland they get really drunk and they just want to get with you. It’s very straightforward. It’s like, “I like you. Come on home.” The whole dating concept just started, like, five years ago in Iceland. You know, before, people just got drunk and went home and fucked.
Oh, yeah. It’s way different here. Did you partake in this behavior in your homeland?
I’m very old-fashioned. I’m a girlfriend kind of girl. I’m not into one-night stands. I just don’t like the feeling of waking up beside somebody I don’t know. It’s really lonely. You have a ballad called “Falling.” Do you trip a lot?
No. The thing is, it’s about falling in love and about not wanting to fall in love. If you listen to the lyrics it’s about this girl who’s falling in love with her friend, but she doesn’t want to. You know how that is. When you meet somebody and you’re like, “No, this was not on my agenda-falling in love and all that shit.”
Explain to me why you are not another Britney Spears clone in 52 words or less.
Of course we’re both young and blond, so we’ll get compared. I’m from Iceland. I write my own songs. I’m very involved. And I’m a little older. So maybe I can sing about a little more mature experiences. I’m not going to say, “Yeah, I’m a virgin.” I talk about things very openly.
That was 53 words. Anyway, speaking of your contemporaries, former Stuff cover girl Willa Ford wants to be bad. Your thoughts, please.
I performed with Willa Ford at Disney World. There was no tension with me. I think she’s cool. Cool.Etiketter: kändisar, Musik |
